
Dr. Katie Vines joined Surgical Services of Athens in July, 2025. She is board eligible by the American Board of Surgery.
She grew up in Hamilton, Alabama where she graduated from Hamilton High School in 2010. She then attended Auburn University on full scholarship where she graduated with her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biomedical Sciences in 2013. While at Auburn University, she conducted research in the Department of Nutrition which led her to pursue a Master of Science in Nutrition Science after completing her undergraduate studies. She graduated summa cum laude for her graduate degree in 2016. She received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 2020.
Dr. Vines completed General Surgery Residency in 2025 at the University of South Alabama. She is a proud recipient of multiple awards including the Dr. John Wilson award which is awarded to the top chief resident pursuing general surgery. She has presented her research at multiple scientific forums and has multiple first-author publications.
Dr. Vines and her husband enjoy spending time outside of work traveling, cooking, and being outdoors with their two dogs, Bruno and Bailey. She also enjoys photography, reading, and Auburn football (although her husband cheers for Alabama, which always makes Thanksgiving interesting).
